UU Musician Offering Choral Workshop in Davenport

UU musical superstar Jason Shelton will be offering a choral clinic at the UU Quad Cities church in Davenport on Saturday, March 23, as well as an opportunity to perform with him in his “Suite Progress”, as part of the next day’s Sunday service.

Jason Shelton is the composer of “Answering the Call of Love”, “Fire of Commitment,” and “Morning Has Come” from Singing the Journey songbook, as well as many other songs. Singing the Journey is our familiar “teal hymnal.”

On Saturday, March 23,  participants are welcome to join a choral clinic on “Suite Progress,” Shelton’s original work for Adult Choir, Children’s Choir, String Quartet, Bass, and Piano that he was commissioned to write for the LGBTQ Community Center in Nashville.

The culmination of the weekend will be the Sunday service on March 24, where Shelton will lead the performance of “Suite Progress.” All participating musicians are encouraged to perform with him and the QC church choir.

There will be a fee of $45 per person to help with bringing Jason Shelton to Davenport, rights to Shelton’s new songs to take back to respective church communities, and for catering of lunch on Saturday. If you are interested, let Bob Dunn know, and he will help you register for this exciting musical opportunity. The QC UU Church would like to know how many to expect as they plan for this event.
